On the Ground

Brian made it safely to Afghanistan after about 27 hours of travel! He was able to stay the night in a hotel in Dubai after the 15 hour flight from the States. He's set up in camp with a cozy little room all to himself and all the flies. He says the desert is just like he remembers it from '91.
It's been a good week despite having him gone. We've been REALLY busy with graduation activities. Our exchange student, Lukas, graduated as did our niece, Alison. School is out for the other children, too. Now if the weather would just cooperate it would be summer!!
I've started planting the garden but the weather is not cooperating at all. I'm still worried about frost and even snow (it only got to 48F today) so I built a greenhouse around our garden. Here are the photos.

The top photo is just the "structure". The 2nd photo is the finished thing. We'll see how it does in Idaho wind!!!!

New Settings, New Adventures

I've changed the settings on our blog so that I can put details here without wondering who is seeing them. Brain will be leaving for Afghanistan next Wednesday. It's certainly going to be a new adventure for our family!! It's amazing how fast things have moved!! There were some hold-ups with getting his passport so I'm glad he doesn't fly out until Wednesday. I'm sure there will be lots to say as the weeks go on but that's just all there is for today. :-)
