9 weeks and counting

This is turning into a never-ending nightmare. The boss is at camp today and informed Brian that he wasn't interested in excuses or anything but getting the job done so he could get his bonus. He said he was only interested in the money, not the people, nothing. I am shocked at some people's attitudes!!! He doesn't get the correlation between taking care of your workers and getting the job done. So Brian is just done.
Another guy at the camp that Brian works with has filled the boss's head with the notion that Brian gets out of bed at noon and does nothing all day except sit at the computer and chat with me. Hhhmmmmmm,............. wish I could chat with him any time I wanted but Brian is always WORKING!!!!!!!!! Who has been fixing the machinery when it breaks down? Not Jamie. Who has been finding things like scaffolding so they workers can do their work? Not Jamie. Who has been doing all the other little stuff that needs attention? Not Jamie. It makes Brian so mad!!!!
And now we're not sure he's going to get his paycheck for the last 2 weeks. That makes ME mad!!!!!!!!! If our paycheck hits the bank this week, Brian is going to the Corps of Engineers to let them know his Master's license has expired. Then the company has to fire him and send him home.
Brian is a people person. He understands that when you take care of the people working for you, whether Afghani, Iraqi, or whatever, they will work for you. Maybe not up to our standards here in the States but they will get things done. By treating them so poorly (as Jamie and Tom do), you just make a bad situation worse.
If I had the money in the bank, I would buy a ticket home for Brian.

At the 6 Week Mark

We thought Brian would be coming home this week. But the delays have pushed that back by 2 weeks last I knew. Well, after talking to Brian this morning, we can plan on 3 more weeks because of delays. That is about the time I leave for Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas. We'll probably cross paths in the air, him flying from Houston to SLC and me flying to Dallas from SLC. If we get *really* lucky, he will fly into Salt Lake the same day I return and we'll at least have a 4 hour trip home together. Our family reunion is the next day so there's no possibility of just staying in SLC overnight.
Knowing he will be there a bit longer isn't much of an issue. We've made it 6 weeks, what's 3 more??? hahahahahaha I just wish we could get a date set so I could make some plans!!!!! We promised the children a trip to Silverwood when Brian gets back. If he's delayed too long, that isn't going to happen with school starting in late August and the park closing in September. I am really looking forward to going, too!!! I love roller-coasters!!!!!!!!
We'll see what happens next.

Finally another update

I can hardly believe it's already been 5 weeks since Brian left for Afghanistan!!!!!!! The time really has flown. Having 5 children to take care of helps keep me busy! LOL
The bad news is that because of delays in getting equipment and supplies there, he's been extended for at *least* another 2 weeks (so 3 weeks from now). If there are more delays, it will be longer. I'm no longer counting on any specific return date. I'll count on it when he tells me he has a return ticket in hand!!!
He was quartered on the British base (Bastion) but moved over to the American base (Leatherneck) this week. He had it pretty good on Bastion!!! He had running water and more. On Leatherneck, they are on bare dirt, as in no ammenities have been put in. He still has his sleeping compartment but there is nothing else. They have to get the sewer, plumbing and electric in. Poor guy hadn't had a shower for 3 days last I knew and it's around 120F every day along with blowing dust, dirt and sand. EEEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! Glad I don't have to smell that!!!! LOL He also had to move the satellite uplink and now they can't get it to work which means he has no internet. I haven't talked to him in several days. He was able to get an email out to me somehow to let me know they hoped to get the internet working today. So far, not so good. I'm not worried about it although I do miss talking to him.
I will certainly update everyone as I know anything new!!
