Coeur d'Alene

We finally made it!!!! We were supposed to leave Saturday afternoon as soon as Brandon got back from the youth pioneer trek. We got a phone call from a friend who needed some help. So, our schedule got pushed back. We finally left town around 10pm (instead of 4-5pm). No big deal, it's only a 7 hour drive. Wrong!!!!!!

We got almost to the Montana border and Brian realized that we weren't getting the gas mileage he thought we would and we needed gas sooner than expected. Not an easy thing in the hinterlands of Idaho!!!!! We pulled off in a small town and found that none of the pumps took cards after hours. The station is set on a hill and so Brian turned the truck to head back to the road. He was almost ready to straighten the wheels when the 5th wheel shifted downhill. Right into the back window of the pickup. The window shattered into the cab and all over. It scared the boys!!!!! An hour later, we had used duct tape and garbage bags to close off the gaping hole. We'll have to get that fixed. :-( We finally found an all-night pump in another town.

One of the other things Brian noticed besides the poor gas mileage was that he couldn't go over 60-65 mph or the transmition started overheating. This is the first time we've pulled the 5th wheel with the truck. They've always used our business partner's truck before. So, we didn't make nearly the time we thought we would. We did get a nice surprize when we crossed from Montana back into Idaho. We gained an hour by switching to Pacific time!!! I had no idea CDA is Pacific time. Kind of weird but oh well.

We pulled into the RV park just after 8am. I knew Judy would be coming out of the water very soon so we pulled the bicycles out of the back and Jonah, Ronan and I headed to where the action was. I've never been here so I had no idea where I was going so it took me longer to find the finish of the swimming. By the time we found it, Judy was long gone. We went up the bike route to meet up with her friend, Mark. While we were talking with him, Judy came by and I got a great photo of her on her bike!!!! It was good.

We went back to the rv park and I slept for awhile. I knew it would be 5-6 hours on the bike route for Judy so I headed back to the park around 1pm. Jonah and I went to several different places on the route hoping to see her. I finally decided to go wait at the finish/transition point. I didn't wait very long before she came through!!! I got photos of her there and then as she was starting the run.

The family had Father's Day dinner at the rv and then went down to be at the finish line when Judy got there. Just as we were walking toward the finish, I heard Judy's name being called out. We missed her crossing the line!!!!!!!! But I got photos of her just after and that was good.

I certainly didn't do anything near what the athletes did but I got a great workout today. The route to the race area is up and down several hills. I made the trip twice today plus a bunch of riding around town. It was good!

Judy is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 140.6 miles in one day. I'm so proud of her and her determination and dedication!! Some day, when I grow up, I want to be just like my sister, Judy!!!!!!

This is so sweet, to say such nice things about your sister. What was it that she was doing exactly? That's terrible what happened to your window, I hope you can get it fixed soon.

She was doing the IronMan Triathlon. That is a 2 mile swim in open water, a 114 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon run!!! What a woman!!!!!!
The campground we stayed at gave us the number for an auto glass place. We got it fixed the next day and all is well!!

I can't even imagine doing 100+ miles in a whole week, let alone one day. Crazy!

We went on a vacation up to Coeur d'Alene once and EVERYONE we knew asked, "Why? Do you have family there?" No, we don't. But I like visiting new places and we loved it. We rented a boat and had a great time on the lake and we popped over to Spokane for the day.

(I'm on LDSMoms email group and got your link there.)
