National Optimism Month

My sister said it's National Optimism Month and she is going to post 3 things each day that went well or she is optimistic about. I decided to join her so here is my first list.
1- I am optimistic that there isn't anything seriously wrong with me and that the MRI I had this morning will prove it.
2- I am optimistic that this cold that is going around (4 in our family so far) is going to be gone by tomorrow morning because I've been sucking on these darn zinc lozenges all day. They don't taste too bad actually.
3-I am optimistic that Brandon and Jonah will NOT get this cold and have to stay home from school.
There it is for today. I had my MRI this morning and then got to take Ronan and Isabeau to the dr. this afternoon. Ronan does NOT have strep, thankfully, and Isabeau's ears are NOT infected! We should all be up and running in the next day or so.
My Dad called this evening to let me know he had been talking with his sister about my headaches. Unknown to me or him, we have more history of headaches in the family than we thought. So maybe it is really just genetics and I'll just have to live with it. The next step for me, when the MRI results come back is to set up an appointment for allergy testing. My Aunt suggested that part of the history is sinus headaches. The headache I have today is definitely from my sinuses!!!! But normally, I don't think it is. We'll see if allergies have anything to do with it! Thank heaven we have insurance now!!!!!!!

I've heard several reports from friends and family that doing a daily nasal rinse will significantly reduce sinus troubles, including headaches. You may buy them at a Pharmacy OTC ($12 for the kit and $12 for 100 refills here) or just snort water up your nose every time you shower. I've not given it a try myself but the NeilMed sinus cleanse is very effective--headaches reduced in one day and gone in two. Good luck! -M
